Lighting for Health – Light Sources and their Effects (Parts 6.1 & 6.2)

Incandescent

– Emit relatively low frequency of EMF’s [about 50 HZ]
– Emit light as well as a small amount of heat
– Produce a warm white light
– Have been phased out by the European Commission due to their inefficiency

Compact Flurorescent

– Spread light over areas without excessive glare
– Can emit strong Electomagnetic radiation fields [32khz, which is in the intermediate frequency range as defined by the world health organization]
– An electronic ballast is required for CFL’s that do not flicker, induce headaches, or make noise
